- From what I hear, there was - ahem - some involvement by Sony, and it
- was by visiting the Sony research labs in the 70'ties you could actually
- hear early digital. Innovation isn't 'local' anymore, it is GLOBAL!, and
- the 'egg and hen' points are moot, Philips and Sony both were working on
- getting 'digital' going, and ended up joining forces and agreeing on a
- standard. However - early digital recordings were made on either Sony
- equipment (for multitracking) or on the american 'soundstream' machine.
